Catherine Tate's brilliant satire ponders the parallels between gingerism and racism

There are a handful of ginger comedians who mine the gingerist canon phenomenally well, and Catherine Tate is right up there with the best of them.

In her brilliant series The Catherine Tate Show, she often used her ginger hair as a comedic tool but this particular sketch aired in 2008 stands out for the powerful message it portrays beneath the comedy. In the traditions of the best satire, it makes you laugh at the same time as raising important questions, in this case about the parallels between gingerism and racism (a topic I will discuss in a future blog post).

There are so many subtle touches that make this brilliant, none of which I will spoil for you here. Just hit play and enjoy some great ginger-themed humour.
