5 Successful Redheads in 2017

  ·  1st March 2018

2017 has been a fantastic year for us gingers. We may only be 2% of the world’s population but we are able to dominate the headlines in so many things. We are on the world stage as members of the royal family, as champions in sport, as award winners in film, acting, music, science and entertainment. As the year closed came the news that not only do we make our own vitamin D but we are now going to have our own emoji.

We have so many redheads to chose from in 2017 that we decided to keep it to the five we think to deserve to be at the top of our list.

Ralph Dale Earnhardt Jr

One of the world’s most successful racing car drivers. Ralph has won races all over the USA for the past 20 years. Ralph retired in 2017 and was again voted everybody’s favourite race driver of the year. Ralph is famous not just for his driving but also for his wonderful bright red beard. It is also great to see that his wife Amy is also a ginger so no guesses on what hair colour the children will have.

Major Tim Peake

The first ginger to walk in space as an Astronaut working from the International Space Station. Having been around the earth 2720 times Major Tim plunged back to Earth a couple of years ago. Since then he has been on a mission to educate children about being in space. In 2017 a class of children in London asked the questions we would like to ask. “How do you go to the toilet in space” and “did you smell when you got back”.

Nicole Kidman

We just had to include Nicole Kidman and yes we know she is an occasional redhead but then its because she just wants to be like us. 2017 was a great year for Nicole with the completion of 4 new projects; Big Little Lies, Top of the Lake, The Killing of a Sacred Deer and Beguiled. She was also on the list for Glamour Women of the Year and Nicole won her first Emmy.

Ed Sheeran

Probably the ginger with the biggest public profile in the world. It is very hard to imagine how successful he has been but the Spotify data released in December 2017 says it all.  Spotify says that Ed Sheeran had 6.3 billion streams in 2017 and the album “Shape of You” was streamed 3.1 billion times. Ed has now won an Ivor Novello Award, Two Grammy Awards, Three BRIT Awards and has just been awarded an MBE. Phew…

Prince Harry

Prince Harry or to give him his full name “Prince Henry of Wales” is 5th in line to become King of England. A professional soldier, the creator of the Invictus Games and the patron of many charities for the disabled. Prince Harry has been the number one “single man” in the world for a long time and his engagement to the stunning American actress Meghan Markle will be a disappointment for many single ladies. We are patiently waiting for our invitation to next year’s Royal Wedding.

2017 has been successful for many redheads, so here is a rundown of the 5 most successful gingers last year!
