Dating website insults redheads with a stupid advertising campaign

  ·  13th April 2016

A well known online dating site has struck a low blow against redheads with an offensive poster campaign that takes a swipe at one of our most beloved features – freckles. The posters, which are pinned up at multiple locations on London’s busy Underground network, feature a close-up of a redheaded girl with prominent freckles and the tagline “If you don’t like your imperfections, someone else will”.

Here is the poster, as photographed by our astonished founder Marc Crouch on his way home from the office recently:

Dating site offends redheads with poster campaign

The name of the site has been blurred because, frankly, we won’t advertise it

Clearly, being a redhead dating site, we are absolutely appalled at this attempt at wit. Not only is it pretty weak as jokes go, it is extraordinary that a company as large as the one behind this campaign – with its multiple layers of approval processes for ads – can somehow pass this as acceptable to put their name to and spend money on.

Sadly, this is not the first time a major company has used gingers as the butt of a joke for an advertising campaign. In 2000 Midlands-based energy company nPower sparked controversy with an advert that featured a ginger family with the tagline “Some things in life you can’t choose”. The advert was banned after a justifiable and predictable uproar from redheads and just generally rational human beings.

The dating site behind this latest outrage has been suitably bombarded with protests, and today issued an apology with a promise to remove the posters as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, any redheads looking for love can rest assured that there is a dating site that loves them and their freckles. is in its 6th year and is the world’s busiest and largest ginger-focused dating site. Welcome home.
